Privacy Policy

Overview
Polyngo Translator is an AI-powered translation app. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
What happens to the text you translate: your input text is sent to our AI providers to perform the translation. When you are signed in, we also save your translations (the text you enter and the results) to your account in our database so the app can show you your translation history — you can delete it any time by deleting your account. If analytics is enabled, a short preview of your input text (up to the first 100 characters) is included in analytics events. The sections below explain each of these in detail.
Data We Collect
Account Information
- Email address and display name (when signing in with Google)
- A unique user ID generated by Firebase Authentication
Usage Data (stored in Firestore)
When you perform a translation while signed in, we store:
- Total translation count and per-day / per-month totals
- AI model used
- Source and target language(s)
- Translation duration and token counts
- Whether a fallback model was used and why
This data is linked to your account and is used to enforce daily usage quotas.
Translation History (stored in Firestore)
When you are signed in, we save each translation so you can revisit it:
- The text you translated and the translated outputs
- The translation mode and the source / target language pair
- When the translation was made
This powers your history and personalized features. It is kept until you delete your account, and is removed automatically when you do.
Analytics (Firebase Analytics / Google Analytics 4)
When analytics is enabled, we also collect (pseudonymously — linked to your account ID when you are signed in):
- The same translation metadata listed above
- Character length of the input text, plus a short preview (first 100 characters) of it, used to find the most common translations for caching
- Per-translation token counts and estimated cost, sent from our servers
- Session start/end and duration
- Login and logout events, including sign-in method
- Screens viewed
- Device system language and locale
How We Use Your Data
- To enforce daily translation quotas
- To understand how the app is used and improve it
- To authenticate you and manage your account
Third-Party Services
AI translation processing: when you translate, your input text is sent to third-party AI providers to perform the translation. These providers process your text on our behalf to return the translation and do not receive your name, email, or account details alongside it.
Polyngo Translator also uses the following Google services, each subject to Google's Privacy Policy:
- Firebase Authentication – account management
- Cloud Firestore – usage data and translation history storage
- Firebase Analytics / Google Analytics – pseudonymous usage and cost analytics (and BigQuery for analysis)
- Google Sign-In – authentication
We also use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and determine premium status; it receives your account ID.
Your Choices
Analytics opt-out: You can disable analytics collection at any time with the Share Analytics setting in the app. When disabled, no analytics events are sent — this includes both the in-app analytics and the server-side per-call cost/usage events, and we stop storing the input-text preview. A minimal daily translation count is still kept to enforce free-tier usage limits (required to provide the service, not used for analytics).
Access & export: You can request a copy of your data by emailing support@polyngo.app with "Export My Data".
Data deletion: You can delete your account from Settings → Profile in the app, or email support@polyngo.app with "Delete My Data". Your account, translation history, and stored usage data are deleted automatically; pseudonymous analytics metrics (which contain no translation content) expire automatically under our retention schedule.
Children's Privacy
Polyngo Translator is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
